Oscars Challenge #15: 12 Years A Slave (2013)

If you really want a movie to deliver a strong message, don't hold back and just let it all out.

This film is just about that.

This movie is based on a book about the story of Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free man who was sold to slavery. He was subjected to the cruelty of one particular slave owner (Michael Fassbender). He had to endure the hardships, punishments, and at the same time the kindness of a few people that he met.

First of all, this movie is star-studded. You have Chiwetel, Michael Fassbender, Lupita, Benedict Cumberbatch, Brad Pitt, and many others. So if you are looking for a film that is packed with Hollywood stars, this is your kind of thing.

However, this film delivers a strong message as well. It doesn't dramatize or humanize slavery but rather keeps it as real as possible. And to me that's what I think makes this movie deserve the prestigious award.

Kudos also to the strong acting performances of Chiwetel and Michael, they really did a wonderful job portraying their characters. Especially the latter he is just a terrifying villain and makes you hate him as a character.

Truly a wonderful and must-watch movie. You got to really check this out and add it to your list.
