There has been no anime movie so good that when you watch it you are easily captivated by the scenes and emotions it delivers but you do not want to repeat the same experience again.
1988's Grave of the Fireflies is definitely one of the best Studio Ghibli films and maybe there will never be one like it. Set during World War II, we follow the tragic story of 2 siblings, Seita and Setsuko as they struggle to survive in the war-torn cities of Japan.
This movie may leave you with more questions than answers however if you place yourself in their perspective in that time period you will definitely understand the decisions they made throughout the story.
For me, there is only one clear message that this film amazingly delivered, War is not good, Even though you didn't participate in the battle you will still become a casualty. This movie really showcased that emotion and the message that it needs to send to everyone.
When I said I will not watch it again, it was primarily because it had some hard-to-watch scenes both graphically and emotionally. But don't get me wrong, I loved the movie. There is none like it in my opinion.
This movie is not for everyone, but please do watch it because it is important.
Yes, it's really awesome anime, I think every otaku should watch it, since it's an immortal classic of the anime world. I even have an old disk with it. I want to convert it to a normal format now and look at it on my computer, fortunately there are converters now https://www.movavi.com/learning-portal/top-free-video-compressors.html who do it in 5 minutes, while the quality is not lost
