Ghibli Challenge #1: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984)

Sometimes for people to realize the importance of saving our environment, they have to be serious about it.

This movie is just about that.

Set in a post-nuclear torn world, this important film is about Nausicaä, a young princess of the Valley of the Wind who gets caught up in the turmoil of a technologically advanced civilization that will use an ancient weapon to destroy a poisonous forest and all its large mutant insect inhabitants.

Hayao Miyazaki's first film is a bombshell. It is a definite must-watch because it presents a lot of problems that we as a society need to deal with. Everything this movie offers is like an environmentalist's anger toward technological advancements that destroy the nature around us.

The movie itself was very well done. There is action, comedy, drama, and tragedy. Almost everything is in this movie and you cannot doubt the passion did to create this wonderful piece of art.

Kudos also to the animators who showcased the emotion this film delivers. There about more to say about this movie except to watch it because it is important.
